The Island of Hope is a story about the time we went to Mombasa with the Aga Khan Foundation to learn the stories of young people out there. We came across people from all different walks of life who opened up their hearts to us from day one. Strangers became sudden friends. They told us of their struggles and of their passions and what it feels like to be young and marginalized in Mombasa. After sitting and listening to so many youngsters, we were emotionally overwhelmed but saw two themes that ran through each story: Hope and wanting to be heard. These are the stories of four individuals from different parts of the same city of Mombasa.
